Concept and Features:
Accentuating the lines and shapes found within the floor plan allowed for angles and curves to be echoed and mimicked throughout both apartment D and E. The sharpness of the angles was juxtaposed with the soft curves found within the walls, furniture and custom door, allowing for a gradual view to the next room and view. The clients idea to maximise Mnemosyne’s view of Sydney was a leading design factor for the orientation of each room. All spaces made the view a complimenting backdrop, with the individual colours found within the outlook influencing the hues in the furnishings. A luxurious feeling was achieved for the client through the laying of the soft furnishing adding texture and pattern to the space and timber flooring to also provide a warming contrast against the cool tones of the grey, concrete render and white marble.
Another element of this key back-to-back apartment is the custom, black wood, dowl, movable wall, allowing for one family or two to stay with each other but have the option of privacy. Creating a relaxing holiday like feeling is also created my both apartments having smart technology via a central tablet and day to dusk lighting, in order to make the space more flexible with each person’s lifestyle that stays in these serviced apartments.
